Croft's work for Time Capsule comes from the series "She'll be right mate: strangers in a strange land". In these digital prints the artist explores the dislocation of Indigenous people within their own country, told partially from her fatherís perspective as he travelled across the Indigenous and government boundaries to the broader context of decimated nations, both here and overseas. Images selected from the series for Time Capsule come from her fatherís time as a worker on the Snowy Mountains Hydro Electric Scheme in the late 1950's - early 1960's. Brenda L Croft, an indigenous artist, is a member of the Gurindji nation, from Daguragu/Limbunya, NT. She lives and works in Perth, WA as Curator of Indigenous Art at the Art Gallery of Western Australia and is currently curating the Adelaide Biennial of Australian Art 2000 for the Adelaide Festival 2000.
