EXPERIMENTA CONGRATULATES SHAUN GLADWELL

Shaun Gladwell’s Pataphysical Man, commissioned by Experimenta in 2005 for the Experimenta Vanishing Point exhibition was auctioned on 26 November through fine art auction house Deutscher and Hackett for $49,200 (including Buyer’s Premium). Experimenta is privileged to commission and mentor artists who extend the creative boundaries of technology in works of surprising potency and imagination and proud to have commissioned this now iconic video artwork of Gladwell’s.
Shaun Gladwell is represented by Anna Schwartz Gallery.

IMMERSION WINS ATOM AWARD

Immersion, a work of interactive video projection by Melbourne-based team of artists, filmmakers, programmers and designers won the Australian Teachers of Media (ATOM) award for the best Multimedia work at the Awards Gala Presentation in Melbourne on Friday 24 October 2008.

experimenta collaborates on acm cie online journal

In 2007 Experimenta began collaborating with the editor-in-chief of the ACM Computers in Entertainment online journal to produce a series of issues dedicated to the media arts. The issues comprise peer-reviewed papers and video interviews with leading proponents.

The Special Media Art Issue Part II (2008 Oct/Dec Vol 6, # 4) is now live and features a video interview with Mari Velonaki and articles by; Mari Velonaki, Steve Scheding, David Rye, Hugh Durrant-Whyte, the Sine Wave Orchestra, Marc Downie and Christian Rubino.

Vol.6 Issue 3 features a video interview with Stelarc conducted by Dr Darren Tofts, articles by Gavin Sade, Stephen Barrass, Andrew Buchanan and Troy Innocent as well as other trail-blazing articles by International specialists in the fields of interactive design, filmmaking and gaming.

Through this fruitful collaboration, Experimenta  proudly continues to provide a forum to deliver technical and critical writing about media arts to industry professionals, academics and researchers, artists and students.

Experimenta recieves abaf good practice award

Experimenta and the Sofitel Melbourne received a certificate for “Good
Practice in Partnering” at the Victiorian AbaF Awards on 10 September. The
Sofitel Melbourne was the Accommodation and Special Events Partner for
Experimenta Playground, providing accommodation for visiting artists and
speakers as well as hosting a networking cocktail party. Experimenta
curated an exhibition of 5 high quality interactive and screen-based media
artworks from previous Experimenta exhibitions for the 1st floor public
foyer and lounge area at the entrance to the hotel.
