Our Policies
Our Policies
At Experimenta we’re dedicated to creating a better and more equitable future through our policies. We understand that developing sound policies requires a willingness to seek out a wide range of perspectives, especially when it comes to addressing critical issues. As a result, we will work closely with First Nations colleagues and experts in accessibility, diversity and sustainability to develop the framework for our policies that guide our organisation towards a brighter and more equitable tomorrow.
In the meantime, our values will continue to inform our behaviour and conduct as we move through the process of formalising our policies.
First Nations First
Experimenta is committed to ensuring all First Nations culture within its programs is First Nations led and that its activities recognise, respect and celebrate the central place of First Nations stories across its platforms. We ensure First Nations artist representation and curatorial overview in our projects, seek out cultural advisors, and embed First Nations perspectives and expertise in all aspects of our work. We are committed to building the capacity and profile of First Nations artists and arts workers in the art and technology sector. We understand that we have a responsibility to support and progress the decolonisation process and work towards reconciliation and are committed to ongoing learning and growth.
Access, Diversity & Inclusion
Experimenta is committed to access, diversity and inclusion across our organisation. We believe that access, diversity and inclusion are fundamental to our mission, and we’re committed to ensuring that our organisation, programs and partnerships are open to all Australians, regardless of language, literacy, geography, age, abilities or education. We are committed to growing the presence and capacity of a diverse range of voices, perspectives and skillsets across the art and technology sector. As a small organisation with a modest staff, we will ensure our employment policies, collaborations and partnerships bring greater diversity to our workforce.
We only work with access-compliant galleries and venues, and partner with organisations like Description Victoria to create audio guides and run tours for our major Triennials.
Sustainability
Sustainability is fundamental to our future. From artistic practice to our programmed talks and workshops, touring exhibitions, and office policies we’re committed to developing, implementing and sharing sustainable approaches in all aspects of our work. We acknowledge the impact that the creation and obsolescence of technology has on the environment and continue to work to shrink the carbon footprint of every aspect of the organisation.
