Experimenta Emergence showcases 13 artworks by leading Australian and international artists, and features screen-based works, installations, robotics, participatory and generative art. This exhibition is presented at Noosa Regional Gallery (Tewantin, QLD), 14 June – 17 August 2025 and tours nationally until 2027.

“From speculative fictions to interactive robotics and deep-listening oceanic soundscapes, Experimenta Emergence is an ambitious touring exhibition that asks big questions about the world we’re creating – and where we want to go next.” Artshub, 27/05/2025.

The exhibition is supported by a public program of talks, tours, screenings and workshops.

Join Experimenta Curator Lubi Thomas in conversation with Experimenta Emergence artists Kate Geck, Daniel McKewen and Leah Barclay. Hear as the artists share their approaches to emergent and interdisciplinary forms with their practices. The talks include audience Q&A and coffee.

Can technologies have living parts? This collage workshop explores ways to combine technology and nature to create imaginative new devices. Part of the monthly ArtPlay series at Noosa Regional Gallery. Suitable for children above 5 years with adult supervision. All materials provided.

Join us for a special screening of Liam Young’s work Planet City, followed by a talk focussing on Liam’s practice of worldbuilding and designing speculative futures. Hosted by Experimenta Curator Lubi Thomas.

Tidal Motion Boat Tour and Hydroponics Workshop with Leah Barclay: Saturday 5 July 2025, 10:00AM – 12:00PM RSVP Here
Hosted by artist Leah Barclay and inspired by her new work, Tidal Motion, participants will connect with the local Noosa waterways and surroundings on a guided boat tour and live hydrophonics session on Noosa river. Experience hands-on demonstrations of Leah’s unique aquatic bioacoustics technology.

Bristlebot Swarm Robotics Children’s Workshop with Katrin Hochschuh: Saturday 19 July 2025, 10:00 – 11:30AM RSVP Here
Participants will be guided by artist Katrin Hochschuh, From Hochschuh and Donovan duo, to build a toothbrush robot and create a collective robot swarm! Leave your creation at the Gallery and take home a kit to make your very own Bristlebot to keep and continue the fun. Designed for children 8 years and over, with adult supervision. All materials provided.

Join Experimenta Curator Lubi Thomas in conversation with artists Katrin Hochschuh and Adam Donovan, who will also demonstrate their work, Plasticity of Mirrors. This talk will focus on their practice of creating sophisticated mechanisms to explore robotic behaviours, algorithms and interactivity.
