Experimenta Life Forms artist Rebecca Selleck uses her artistic practice to reciprocally investigate and challenge her own perceptions within a culture of conflicting truths. Her work overlays time and place to express the need for human accountability and the painful complexity of animal and environmental ethics in Australia.
In this online lecture, Rebecca will discuss her recent artworks and the techniques for creating interactive sculptures and installations, which blend animatronics, assemblage, and casting.
Rebecca Selleck’s artwork ‘ ‘Snow Rabbits’ is exhibiting as part of Experimenta Life Forms: International Triennial of Media Art, presenting at The Lock Up (Newcastle, NSW), 10 July – 12 September 2021 and touring nationally until 2024.

Rebecca Selleck is a Canberra-based artist focusing on interactive sculpture and installation, blending animatronics, assemblage, and casting. She completed her Bachelor of Visual Arts at the ANU SOA with First Class Honours, receiving the Peter and Lena Karmel Anniversary Prize for best graduating student. She uses her practice to reciprocally investigate and challenge her own perceptions within a culture of conflicting truths. Her work overlays time and place to express the need for human accountability and the painful complexity of animal and environmental ethics in Australia.
Rebecca has received multiple awards and has exhibited across Australia and internationally. She was a finalist in the inaugural Ramsay Art Prize and in 2018 the Arte Laguna Prize in Venice, Italy; the Macquarie Art Prize; the Ravenswood Art Prize (Highly Commended); and the Churchie Art Prize. Her work is held at the Museum of Australian Democracy and Western Plains Cultural Centre.
